1.) Provide his/her own perspective about the value of humanism in the science of medicine.
Directive:
Watch the following four videos and take notes about what each speaker is presenting as key points on the concept of humor, empathy, and patient satisfaction vs. experience.

2.) Watch Improving Healthcare: Straight from the Heart with Sanjay Saint at TEDxUofM
3.) Watch Patient Satisfaction or Patient Experience ?" Fred Lee at TEDxMaastricht
4.) Watch The next revolution in health care? Empathy with Paul Rosen at TEDxWilmington
Assignment:
1.) Provide a brief review (2-3 page) on on of the two videos you chose to watch and explain what you identified with and what perhaps you did not. Do not feel obligated to agree on any points presented by the speakers. This exercise is focused on helping you form a perspective about your future in healthcare based on hearing the views of others. You may want to engage in a web search to gather facts to support your perspective as you begin shape your thoughts. This is a critical thinking exercise to allow you the opportunity to respond to the speaker, as if you were there and were given the opportunity to ask a question or give a comment.
* Be prepared to submit your paper to Dr. Motley or Dr. Trimmier at the end of your clinical rotation in Family Medicine.
